National City Line, affiliated with Yellow Coach, in
turn controlled by Geyhound Line, at the time it controlled
by General Motors, first acquired, then ripped out trolley lines and torched trolley cars ubiquitously in the U.S.

$ 9 Billion per month. That is, the total oil import bill
will approximately be over $12 Billion per month.

Being a consummate car culture, high fuel prices will
bring recession/the Fed hostage to the imports (qty)
X high price, the U.S. budget a domino after the
import debt. HIGHER int. rates will defend the dollar.
(also, State Dept. hostage to 55% import vs. 33%, '73--next oil embargo will have tremendous clout)

Ecuador's departure from OPEC left it 100% politicized, save Venezuela, but it one of the 2 FOUNDING members.

It costs about $1 per passenger-mile to own &
operate a car in the U.S. vs. .05/rapid transit (X trillions
of miles annually).

70% to 90% of police man-hours are lost to

Using the oil production weapon appeals to the angry inadequates--but the inadequacies are a by-product of trying to increase population by instilling mascucline insecurities (making straight men afraid of being wrongly ferreted out as gay--linked below).

Also, as to simple-mindedness, note Al Bundy's (C) early-70's Plymouth Duster was supposed to be a "wieniemobile." That car, and its sister, the Dodge Dart, were under 2 tons, apx. 250 hp (rockets). The "performance cars" people shell out for today are the soapboxes mandated by post-'79 embargo economics. The SUV's, at apx. 13 mpg vs. the 25 the average American was working with, are simply the naive blow-off of cheap energy, the aftermath of the overreaction to OPEC's initial success. "No-fault" insurance is simply an attempt to make an uneconomic system sustainable.

Munch in the car with such things as pkgd pre-cut/washed carrots, etc.

Brown bag. With dehydrated versions of many foods, such as powdered soy milk, etc., you just need a source of water.

Assuming you need help adapting or you wouldn't be reading this, chances are the car culture is moving human genetic variation disfavorably to you (poor driving skills, poor ability to take the smog, impatience at red lights, etc.)
